If you’ve ever Googled your author name and found more results about other people than your own books, you’re not alone—and now there’s a podcast that aims to change that.
“SEO for Authors,” a new podcast hosted by indie author and SEO expert Jennifer Stowers, officially launched this week with a mission to help writers take control of their visibility online—without needing to become tech experts.
Each episode is under 5 minutes and designed to deliver quick, actionable tips that authors can use to improve their presence on Google, Amazon, and beyond.
“Authors don’t need to go viral or game an algorithm—they just need to make sure their name connects to their books in all the right places,” Stowers explains in Episode 1. “That’s what SEO can do when it’s done right.”
The show kicked off with two foundational episodes:
-
Episode 1: Why SEO for Authors Matters & Where to Start – A crash course in what SEO actually means for authors and why it’s essential for long-term discoverability.
-
Episode 2: You Googled Yourself—Now What? – A practical guide to interpreting your search results and making small updates that make a big difference.
While SEO can often feel overwhelming or “too technical” for creatives, Stowers breaks things down in plain language and focuses on strategies that work specifically for authors. From optimizing author websites and bios to connecting your books to your name across the web, the podcast aims to be a go-to resource for writers who want to grow their audience organically.
The podcast complements her website, SEOforAuthors.com, where authors can find free guides, tools, and online courses.
New episodes are released weekly and are available on Substack.
